Garage door repair, by the part that's actually broken

A garage door that won't open, won't close, shakes, scrapes or hangs crooked usually has one specific problem. We name that part, tell you what it needs, and fix it. We don't lump everything into a vague 'service call'.

Everest Garage Doors is a new, family-owned and insured company based on Grove Street in Newton, founded in 2026. We're new, and we won't pretend otherwise. What we can promise is plain: long hours, upfront flat-rate pricing, free estimates, a warranty on our work, and technicians who arrive in marked vehicles and clean up after every job.

We repair and install doors and openers for most major brands, including Clopay, Amarr, C.H.I. Overhead Doors, Wayne Dalton, Raynor, Overhead Door, Windsor Door and Haas Door. For openers we work on LiftMaster, Chamberlain, Genie, Craftsman, Marantec, Sommer, Linear and Stanley.

Garage door repair questions

My garage door won't close or reverses right away. What's wrong?

Most often it's the safety sensors near the floor. They may be dirty, bumped out of alignment or blocked. Wipe both lenses and check that the lights are steady. If the door still reverses, the limit settings or travel on the opener may need adjusting. Call us if the problem continues.

My garage door won't open at all. Is it the spring or the opener?

If the opener runs but the door barely lifts or feels very heavy, a broken spring is likely. If the opener hums with no movement, or the trolley has disconnected from the door, the opener side needs attention. We can tell you which one over the phone and confirm on site.

I heard a loud bang from the garage. What was it?

That sound often means a torsion spring broke. Don't try to lift the door by hand, because it can be very heavy without spring support. Leave it where it is and call us. Same-day service is available for broken springs.

My garage door is stuck open at night. What should I do?

Keep people and pets clear of the door and call (857) 420-4277. If you reach us after hours, leave a message and we'll get back to you as soon as we can. We're closed on major holidays.

How does flat-rate pricing work for a spring replacement?

You get a flat-rate price for the job rather than an open-ended hourly charge. We'll explain what's included when you call or when the technician inspects the door.

Why is my garage door sensor blinking?

A blinking light usually means the two sensors can't see each other. Check that nothing blocks the beam, wipe the lenses, and make sure both sensors point straight across. If it keeps blinking, we can repair or replace the sensor.

The cable snapped or came off the drum. Why is my door crooked?

The cables carry the door's weight on both sides. When one fails, the door hangs uneven and can jam. Stop using the door and call us for a cable repair.

My garage door came off its track. Can I push it back?

We don't recommend it. A door off track is under strain from the springs and cables, and forcing it can bend the track or cause injury. Call us and we'll reset it safely.

Why is my garage door noisy or grinding?

Worn rollers, dry hinges or loose hardware are common causes. A tune-up with lubrication and a hardware check can help, and worn rollers can be replaced.

Should I repair my garage door or replace it?

If the problem is one worn part, repair is usually the practical choice. If the door has several damaged panels or keeps breaking down, replacement may make more sense. We'll give you an honest recommendation and a free estimate.
